Japan launches ‘Moon Sniper’ mission, will land on Moon in 2024
SLIM (Smart Lander for Investigating the Moon), also known as the “Moon Sniper,” was launched by Japan today on an H-IIA rocket. The expedition, estimated to cost $100 million, should arrive at the Moon by February.

The rocket, according to the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), was launched from the Tanegashima Space Center. Japan wants to be the fifth country to set foot on the moon.
