On Monday, I had a wonderful guest. Breaking out from his security perimeter, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte went for a stroll and paid for his tea at a nearby cafe using India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI).

Rutte told reporters that he enjoyed taking a leisurely stroll down Church Street and that the UPI system’s ease of use had astounded him.
