Comet approaching Earth is 3 times the size of Mount Everest.

Comet approaching Earth is 3 times the size of Mount Everest. – After exploding for the second time in four months, a “horned” comet that is three times the size of Mount Everest is now hurtling toward Earth, according to astronomers. The comet 12P/Pons-Brooks has a diameter of 18.6 miles (30 kilometers). Some analysts claimed that the comet resembles a sci-fi spaceship due to the shape of the coma, the gaseous cloud encircling its center.

The comet’s coma continued to grow and formed its “peculiar horns” during the following few days, according to Live Science. Some experts cracked a joke about how the comet resembles the Millennium Falcon from “Star Wars” due to the coma’s asymmetrical appearance.

Although the exact reason for the horns is unknown, experts think that the nucleus’s form of 12P may be to blame. According to Richard Miles of the British Astronomical Association, quoted in the New York Post, “The two ‘horns’ may be caused by a peculiarly-shaped cryovolcanic vent with some sort of blockage causing the material to be expelled with a weird flow pattern.”
