‘Pakistan Zindabad’ chants are prohibited in stadiums, says Bengaluru police officer.

Bengaluru policeman on Friday sparked outrage by forbidding a Pakistan cricket fan from chanting “Pakistan Zindabad” during the Pakistan-Australia game of the ODI World Cup 2023 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium.

The policeman can be heard saying “Bharat Mata ki jai is allowed but not Pakistan Zindabad” in a video footage that has become popular on social media.

The video has split the internet. While some said that everyone should have the freedom to support the team of their choosing, others argued that Pakistan shouldn’t be exalted on Indian land given that it is to blame for the deaths of Indian soldiers along the border.

The policeman declined to comment when asked to appear on camera and stated that “Pakistan Zindabad” slogans are not permitted in stadiums by the crowd.

The police officers stationed on the grounds of the M Chinnaswamy stadium implemented certain stringent control measures to maintain crowd control and prevent disturbances during the World Cup match between Australia and Pakistan on Friday.
