Mantri Mall fails to pay property taxes and is evicted by the BBMP.

A day after the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) ordered the closure of Mantri Mall in Malleshwaram for failing to pay property taxes totaling 51 crore, the shopping complex obtained a stay of execution from a local court. The mall is now open for business.

However, this is not the first time the BBMP has taken action against Mantri Mall due to unpaid property taxes. It is part of a long-running conflict between the mall and the city authority.

A top BBMP officer in charge of the mall's closure stated that they will work hard to end the stay and ensure payment of outstanding dues. This is the first mall to be closed this year due to nonpayment of taxes. There are numerous additional malls, and the BBMP has stated that it will begin closing others as well.

Munish Moudgil, Special Commissioner (Revenue), stated that the BBMP was prepared to take the legal struggle against property tax defaulters to the Supreme Court. "We won't let anyone evade taxes," he went on to say.
