A family of eight tries to end their lives outside the Karnataka Assembly and is stopped by cops.

On Wednesday, eight members of a family attempted suicide in front of the Karnataka assembly in Bengaluru, furious that a bank was auctioning their home to recoup loan dues.

The family members poured kerosene on themselves outside the Vidhan Soudha, but were prevented by police. They were then brought into custody.

The family borrowed Rs. 50 lakh from the Bangalore City Cooperative Bank in 2016. The family could only return 95 lakh, not the entire amount owed, including interest and other components.

The bank then moved to auction their home to recover their debts, pushing the family to take desperate measures.
