Sri Rama Sene activists detained after protesting at the Lokayukta office in Bengaluru.

Sri Rama Sene activists gathered outside the Lokayukta office on Wednesday, alleging that the Lokayukta failed to take action against corrupt officials and closed the complaint instead of ordering an inquiry or passing the issue to the Lokayukta police wing. They yelled chants. The Vidhana Soudha police responded quickly, arresting scores of people as a precaution.

Activist S Bhaskaran, who is also the city president of Sri Rama Sene, filed a complaint against a senior official of the Department of Electrical Inspectorate, accusing him of acquiring large properties while failing to keep competent authorities informed of his assets, which constitutes dereliction of duty.

"I filed a complaint on December 19, and it was closed on January 5, indicating that complaints related to the Prevention of Corruption Act are handled by the Lokayukta Police. It asked me to contact the Lokayukta police wing," claimed Bhaskaran, who, along with a dozen activists, attempted to create a protest but were apprehended by police.

"In many circumstances, they take up suo motu or transfer, but in this case, they closed the case, requiring us to litigate. "We now intend to protest after January 22," he said.
