In Bengaluru, an autorickshaw driver has devised a novel way to facilitate Kannada communication with his passengers. The driver is putting a pamphlet titled "Learn Kannada With Auto Kannadiga" inside his car to help close the communication gap between Kannada speakers and non-Kannada speakers.
The booklet gives non-native speakers a straightforward method to interact with locals more successfully by translating common Kannada sentences into English. Examples of useful expressions are "Hello sir" and "I am learning Kannada." In order to navigate, he demonstrates how passengers can now just say, "Sir, ride a bit faster," "Go slow," or "Go a little further and take a right/left turn."
Additional helpful sentences in the brochure address questions about fares, like "How much?" and "Do you accept UPI or only cash?" Additionally, passengers can urge that the driver not cancel the reservation or inquire as to whether the driver has change for a particular amount. Phrases like "I'm in a hurry, please come quickly" and "Please wait, I'll be there in two minutes" were also translated. The content producer "Auto Kannadiga" created the imaginative poster.
