The Indian stock market has experienced a significant fall due to uncertainty around the US Presidential elections in 2024, Middle East hostilities, dismal Q2 performance in 2024, and sustained Fll selling. Asian markets were mixed, but the US stock market remained relatively unchanged overnight as Treasuries yields rose.
On Tuesday, the Indian stock market indices succumbed to a significant wave of selloff and closed drastically lower by more than a percent.
The Sensex fell 930.55 points, or 1.15%, to close at 80,220.72, while the Nifty 50 dropped 309.00 points, or 1.25%, to 24,472.10.
Rising US bond yields, combined with expectations of a moderate rate decrease by the US Federal Reserve, led to worldwide market weakness and an outflow of assets from emerging countries such as India.
