Nikhil Kamath's purchases his first house in Bengaluru

Days after billionaire Nikhil Kamath stated that he had recently purchased his first home, photographs of his prior rented dwelling, a 7,000-square-foot apartment in Bengaluru, reappeared. Several social media users reacted on the apartment's design, with most criticizing it as unpleasant. "I love maximalism, but I'd get a migraine living here," one X user said.

Co-founder of Zerodha Nikhil Kamath has sparked a firestorm of controversy after deciding to buy his first flat, a move that goes against his long-standing support for renting rather than buying real estate. The publicity surrounding Kamath's recent purchase came at the same time as pictures of his previous rental home, a 7,000-square-foot Bengaluru flat that has generated a lot of criticism for its maximalist interior design, surfaced.

It started when PhonePe's head of design, Rahul Gonsalves, posted pictures of Kamath's old house, mistaking it for his recently acquired property. As soon as the message went viral, many people on X (now Twitter) echoed Gonsalves' criticism of the apartment's appearance, which many deemed "tacky" and unattractive.
