Tech employees have been requested to work from home

The IMD has issued a yellow advisory for Bengaluru until Thursday, October 24, during which heavy rain and thunderstorms will persist in areas of the city.

Meanwhile, a six-story construction building in Bengaluru collapsed, killing five workers and trapping two or three more, even as rescue attempts resumed on Wednesday. The building fall occurred in the Anjanadri Layout in north Bengaluru, following heavy rains.

With an orange alert in effect for Bengaluru, the Karnataka government has issued a directive to all tech companies in the region and city to allow their employees to work remotely today. A holiday has also been declared for schools in the city. This comes after a rainfall on Monday and severe rains on Tuesday breached at least two lakes in the Yelahanka district of North Bengaluru, causing floods and massive traffic jams.
