By creating a specialized Security Operations Center (SOC) to combat attacks, Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited intends to fortify its cyber defenses.
According to the BMRCL, this action attempts to protect Bengaluru's metro rail systems from possible cyber intrusions given the increasing sophistication of assaults.
The establishment of the center, which will run for three years, was recently put out to bid by the corporation. It seeks to offer security and visibility throughout the 66 stations that make up BMRCL's network, which also includes infrastructure like IT resources and CCTV surveillance.
With four cameras on each coach, there are about 13,200 cameras mounted throughout these stations. According to officials, the SOC would gather logs from all linked devices by implementing a centralized system, allowing for proactive monitoring and prompt reaction to any security concerns.
"The SOC will offer real-time monitoring, threat detection, and response mechanisms, guaranteeing the safety and security of our IT and CCTV networks," stated a senior BMRCL official. At least 1,000 devices, including servers, firewalls, routers, workstations, laptops, and CCTV equipment spread throughout the metro's infrastructure, will be supported by this system."
