Fares on the Bengaluru Namma Metro will increase by 20%.

As the Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) gets closer to completing a fee increase, passengers on Bengaluru's Namma Metro may soon have to pay more for their commute.

Fares on the Bengaluru Namma Metro will increase by 20%.

Many locals have expressed their dissatisfaction with the proposed rise, which is intended to meet rising operating costs, according to a report.

The BMRCL's rate-fixing committee solicited public input on the proposed fare revision for 25 days, from October 3 to October 28. According to the research, the 28 respondents' comments showed a lot of opposition to the proposed raise.

The proposed idea might result in a 20% increase in metro fares, which now range from 10 to 60 ₹. According to the journal, this would make it more expensive to commute on the metro's well-liked purple and green lines by raising the lowest cost to ₹15 and the maximum fare to ₹75. The proposed rate adjustment comes after a previous round of feedback that saw broad opposition to a fare rise and ended in August.

The main justification given by the BMRCL for the fare hike is the increased expenses associated with operating and maintaining the metro network. According to the report, officials contend that a fee increase is required to maintain operations' viability because the city still depends heavily on the metro as a mass transit alternative.
