New Indian Railways advance train ticket booking regulations: If you intend to purchase a train ticket in advance, you should be aware of the new regulations, which went into effect on November 1, 2024.
Changes to Indian Railways' advance ticket booking system have been announced. The current 120-day advance booking window for train tickets will be replaced by a 60-day window beginning November 1, 2024. Tickets that have already been purchased will not be impacted by the new rules.
The goal of reducing the advance reservation time from 120 to 60 days is to alleviate the problems that passengers have when trains are canceled after they have purchased tickets well in advance.
The 60-day limit takes into account a number of variables, such as fewer cancellations, careful trip preparation, and flexibility for impromptu travel. According to sources, this modification will aid in the fight against ticket touting, which took advantage of the extended booking time.
Bookings will be made in accordance with the 60-day ARP (Advance Reservation Period), which will take effect on November 1, 2024, except the day of travel.
With the implementation of a new 60-day Advance Reservation Period (ARP) from November 1, 2024, Indian Railways has updated its advance reservation policy. The prior 120-day window has been replaced.
Reservations made under the current 120-day ARP before to October 31, 2024, will still be enforceable. If necessary, those who booked their tickets after the new 60-day window can still cancel them.
These cancellations will be handled by the railway authorities in accordance with established protocols. For certain daytime Express routes, such as "Taj Express" and "Gomti Express," the current booking limits will remain in place.
Furthermore, the new rules do not change the special clause that permits international visitors to purchase tickets up to 365 days in advance.
