Bengaluru’s Monday Blues Intensify as Metro Train Gaps Stretch to 10 Minutes, Sparking Commuter Outrage
Bengaluru, April 14 – Bengaluru’s infamous Monday blues turned darker this week as Namma Metro commuters faced unexpected delays and overcrowding due to reduced train frequency during peak hours.
Trains on the metro network were reportedly running at 10-minute intervals—a sharp deviation from the usual 4-5 minute schedule—causing chaos at major transit points like Majestic and Magadi Road.
Social media was flooded with videos showing packed platforms and visibly frustrated commuters struggling to board jam-packed trains. Many office-goers, caught off guard by the disruption, slammed the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) for poor planning.
The backlash even prompted a strong response from public representatives. Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his displeasure, saying:
“Unacceptable mismanagement at Majestic Metro Station this morning. Reducing train frequency to 10 minutes during peak hours, assuming everyone has a holiday, created absolute chaos. BMRCL must plan better in such cases and restore normal frequency immediately.”
While no official statement has been released by BMRCL at the time of reporting, commuters are demanding accountability and a prompt return to regular service.
This incident underscores Bengaluru's ongoing public transport woes, with residents calling for better communication and infrastructure management to match the city's fast-paced lifestyle.
