Elan has written and directed Star, an upcoming Indian Tamil-language romantic drama film. B. V. S. N. Prasad and Sreenidhi Sagar co-produced the film for Sri Venkateswara Cine Chitra and Rise East Entertainment, respectively. Kavin plays the eponymous role, while the cast also includes Lal, Aaditi Pohankar, Preity Mukhundhan, and Geetha Kailasam.

The film follows Kalai, a young man who pursues his passion of becoming an actor despite numerous challenges. Initially, Harish Kalyan was cast as the lead, but he was later replaced by Kavin. The film was announced in August 2023 under the tentative title Kavin's Next, with the official title revealed a few days later. Principal photography began in June 2023. It was primarily shot in Chennai and was scheduled to wrap in mid-February 2024. Yuvan Shankar Raja created the film's music, while Ezhil Arasu K handled the cinematography and Pradeep E. Ragav did the editing.
