Concerns are rising in Jayanagar as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) prepares to evict almost 400 street sellers who have been operating from the sidewalk for nearly 40 years. According to BBMP officials, even with a license, street sellers do not have the ability to routinely operate from a particular location.

According to a senior BBMP marshal, they have been directed to launch an encroachment removal effort in the Jayanagar market. The task will be carried out with the assistance of BBMP marshals and traffic police.
While the merchants had received a formal notice from the BBMP three months prior, marshals only recently told them that an eviction campaign would take place on November 6.
