Bengaluru Road Rage Incident Takes a Dramatic Turn: IAF Officer Booked After Biker’s Counter-Complaint
A routine Monday morning on Bengaluru’s Old Madras Road turned into a legal drama after a road rage clash between Indian Air Force Wing Commander Shiladitya Bose and a local call centre employee, Vikas Kumar, took an unexpected turn. What initially seemed like a straightforward case of assault has now unfolded into a layered narrative of conflicting claims, viral videos, and a growing debate over authority and accountability.
Biker Speaks Out: “I Fear Losing My Job”
After securing bail, Vikas Kumar released a video statement detailing his side of the story. With visible signs of distress, he said he feared losing his call centre job due to the allegations made against him. “He attacked me and filed a false complaint using the language issue as a pretext,” Vikas said, stressing that he is fluent in five languages and that Bose’s claims were baseless.
According to Vikas, the incident began when his motorcycle was grazed by a multi-utility vehicle. As he stopped to confront the driver, Bose—allegedly seated in the passenger seat—stepped out and pushed his bike, causing him to fall.
“He told me he was with the Indian Air Force and warned me not to mess with him,” Vikas alleged. He further claimed that the officer physically assaulted him, bit him, broke his mobile phone when he tried to call a friend, snatched his bike key, and even attempted to strangle him.
Role Reversal: IAF Officer Booked
In a twist that has caught the public eye, Wing Commander Bose—who initially accused Vikas of chasing and assaulting him—has now been booked under serious charges, including attempt to murder, criminal intimidation, and voluntarily causing hurt, following Vikas’s counter-complaint.
Earlier, Bose had released his own statement claiming he was attacked and verbally abused by a group of Kannada-speaking bikers in the early hours of the day. Based on this complaint, police initially arrested Vikas Kumar. However, following his release and counter-complaint, an FIR was registered against Bose under multiple sections of the Indian Penal Code.
Investigation Underway: Conflicting Narratives
With both parties presenting starkly different accounts, the case now hinges on the investigation by Bengaluru police, who are carefully reviewing CCTV footage, witness statements, and medical reports.
While the legal process unfolds, the incident has raised larger questions around road rage, misuse of power, and the challenges of establishing truth in an age of viral media. Public opinion remains divided, with some rallying behind the armed forces officer and others supporting the common citizen who claims victimhood.
Conclusion: Justice in the Balance
As the dust settles on Old Madras Road, the real battle begins in the courtroom. Both the IAF and the civilian community await the outcome of a case that has spotlighted the volatile mix of ego, authority, and urban chaos on Indian roads. Whether this clash leads to justice—or merely more confusion—will depend on the evidence, not emotion.
